TFA ATHLETE QUESTIONS:
Name: Derrick Butterbaugh
Age: 41
Occupation: Garage Door Installation
What brought you to TFA? I was tired of being overweight and out of shape.
How has TFA changed your life? In 8 months I’m down from 267 to 215 (52lbs). I have a new confidence within myself and I have no back issues anymore.
What goals have you accomplished since being at TFA? Multiple PR’s throughout, but what made me smile the most was touching the ceiling on my first ever rope climb. Coach Brandon knew I wanted to quit and would not let me. Thank you sir!
What are your current goals? Lose more weight, build more muscle, handstand push-ups, and double unders.
How many day per week do you workout? First 3 months was 5 days a week but now we go 4 days a week.
What is 1 food/meal you could eat for the rest of your life? Chicken tenders
What do you enjoy outside of the gym? My beautiful wife, children, grandchildren, family, softball, traveling, and Ohio State football.
If you could meet anyone, ever, who would it be and why? My Grandpa Bob “gramps” I would love for him to see the man that I’ve become and for him to share his knowledge and stories with my children. He was a great man.
What has been the biggest thing you have overcome? For me it was actually just getting in the door of the gym. I’ve never been to a gym in my life and Brandon made me feel right at home.
What advice would you give to the person you were when you started? Quit worrying about how you’ll look too others in the gym as an overweight and out of shape 40 year old and go for it. Hard work pays off and the only person that can stop you is yourself.
